Jim and Renee

Jim and Renee

My name is James Arnold King, and I am a husband, father, teacher, Church Treasurer, and Chairman of Bethany Bible Church's Elder/Deacon Board. I praise the Lord for my wonderful wife Renee and our adult son Jimmy and his family, who are my life's greatest treasures.

Over the years I have had the privilege of serving with the Methodist Church and the Alliance Mission Church in Ohio, and teaching for ten years at Tallmadge Christian Academy in Ohio.

My wife and I moved from Ohio to Lake Havasu City in 2002 and immediately started attending Bethany Bible Church. At that time I took a teaching position at Bethany Christian School, where I taught for eleven years.

It has been my joy to minister to our church family all these years, and to continue growing in sanctification by God's grace.

Eric (Ric) Stephan - Music Ministry

Ric and Barbara

For most of my life I've been involved in various church ministries and activities. But it wasn't until 1990, after a Pastor and his family moved in next door and befriended my wife and me, that I responded to the gospel, received Christ, and learned to appreciate the whole truth of God's Word.

My family and I started attending Bethany Bible Church in 1993. Subsequently, my late wife developed cancer and went to be with the Lord in 2002. That was a difficult time and without faith in Christ I don't know how I would have gotten through it.

Since joining the church, I've been active in its music ministry, sharing the musical abilities the Lord has blessed me with, including leading the music during the services. Usually I play the guitar and sing, but I also enjoy picking the mandolin whenever I have the opportunity.

In 2005 I married Barbara, who adds her considerable talents on the banjo to the music ministry. In addition to playing for our church's worship and praise services, we also enjoy composing original music in the gospel bluegrass or folk style, and presenting our music in outreach programs in our local park.

I've been serving as a deacon for several years, and I also lead the adult Sunday school class. Being naturally shy, I've found it interesting and somewhat humorous that the Lord would place me in an upfront ministry role. That is a testimony to the fact that He can use anyone He chooses, in any way He chooses, for His glory. I've been greatly blessed to serve Him throughout the years.

By the way, I was able to record some of my own compositions of spiritual songs. You can listen to them at this link.

Stan Broder - Missions

Stan and Stephanie Broder

I was born and raised in a Jewish home where the name Jesus Christ was never mentioned. It wasn't until 1975 at a gathering of the Motown Records staff (where I worked as studio manager at the time), that a fellow employee very bluntly informed me that "I was going to hell if I didn't receive Christ as my Savior"; now that's the direct approach to evangelism. My response was understandable. "You believe what you want to believe and I'll believe what I want to believe. Just because I wasn't raised the way you were doesn't give you the right to tell me that I am going to hell."

That was the beginning of a long soul-searching experience that took me across the United States in six weeks, through the UK and Europe in three and a half months, and then on to Israel for an additional four and a half months. I was a Jew. I was one of God's chosen people. Sadly, however, I had no idea at the time what I was chosen for.

All of Europe spoke of Christ. Art museums, cathedrals, and history in general spoke of the man from Nazareth as I traveled from one end of Europe to the other. It was time for me to visit Israel and to better understand what I was supposed to believe as a "Jew." What I discovered sadly was that the Jews of Israel were just as ignorant of spiritual things as I was. They knew about their history, their rituals and ceremonies but they had no idea what God had intended for them as "God's chosen people."

I left Israel after an additional four and a half months of living on a kibbutz still oblivious to what it meant to be a Jew. Throughout Israel, however, just as in Europe, everywhere I traveled this man from Nazareth was there. I wasn't looking for Christ but my Messiah was definitely looking for me.

For those who are interested, the full-length version of my testimony, and God's tremendous work in my life, can be found by clicking on the Testimony of A Completed Jew.

Bethany Bible Church

My wife, Stephanie, and I have attended Bethany Bible Church for some time now but have just recently become more actively involved. Previous to our retirement and relocation to this area more than five years ago, Steph and I attended Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California where John MacArthur is pastor-teacher. During that time I worked with the outreach department, and "Grace to You" as Director for International Ministries (1980-2005). I count it a privilege to be working with our leadership team in providing guidance to the development and organization of our church in general and our missions program in particular.
